Pigeons inhabit most of the earth except the Sahara Desert and Antartica. Pelicans are found on all continents except Antartica. The homologus trait they have in common, are their wings. Pigeon wing muscles, are comprised of approximately 31% of their body weight. The maximum wingspan of a pelican, could measure up to 10 feet. The common ancestor of theses two, are the dinosaur. All three species belong to the Animaila Kingdom. Fossil records indicate that birds evolved from dinosaurs.

Huskies and wolves have a lot in common. Both furry animals have four limbs, sharp teeth, and a keen a sense of smell. The most common ancestor of the wolf, is the Canis Lepophagus found in the Miocene era.

  1. It is so weird to think that birds evolved from dinosaurs. Birds are so small and dinosaurs were so big! I never realized how big some birds wings can be. It's interesting how different their beaks are, though. Your example of wolves and huskies is great. They do look very similar.

  2. The differences in wing structures is an example of homologies. Good discussion on that.

The comparison between wolves and huskies is another example of a homology, however. All the traits you lists were possessed by the common ancestor of the wolf the husky, in this case, early wolves. You needed to find a trait that had similar function but without a similar evolutionary history.
